Unprofessional. :/ But you're not a pro, so that's not bad. I'm also not a pro, but I have some advice --
People don't use boarders anymore, really - either plain or just a 1-2pixel boarder, mostly because when you're doing 100x100 (which is the norm) or small images like that, it takes away from the picture and makes it more distracting.

The colours are kind of drab, too. When you're working with stock photos (or any photos, at al, really) colouring is big. Curves and selective colouring - in the first one you could bring out the blue, in the coffee one (?) the yellow, and the cherry, the red! Right now they're kind of dull and not bright at all. The candle one you could try brightening, because even the lights look a bit dim.

If you don't want to go through all that jazz, I would suggest colour fills (layers of colour to screen or brighten, multiply or hue, whatever) or downloadable textures or filters. They add more interestingness and dimension to the images.
For the fonts, you don't especially need them -- but in this case, they look kind of out of place to me - just like BAM there / especially @ 100% opacity. They're also (or look like it) just word fonts, which are old and boring... scribbly free fonts that you can download at places like DaFont work really well.

I'm a stupid critic. But now I want to go make icons too, and you can tell me how they suck. :)
